The Week Long Party!!

The Box Elder County Fair is a great success again! Here are a few highlights of the fun time we had. The "Beatles Group" known as Imagine, brought the crowd to its feet. We included a clip for you to see. They started with early Beatles and ended with the Sargent Pepper, they had 3 eras they performed. The entertainment isn't all Cowboy music.

We of course had to go the Rodeo which is always fun and we closed the fair again with dancing every night. Saturday night will be the best dance band!! We Cowboy Cha-Cha, 2 Step, Waltz and Ten Step. Mark is a great dancer. It's a lot of fun especially hangin with friends. Our kids used to ask what we do there and why we spend so much time at the fair?? We hang out with friends, just like you do. Geez I guess they thought we were too old to have so much fun. The Pee Wee Lamb show is always fun to see with the costumes and the little kids dressed up. It's always sad to see the Fair end, but we get to relax again and go to bed at a normal hour. The local food booths are really good and best of all the fair is free!! Thanks Box Elder for the party, See you next year 2009 !! (Mark says thanks to those who voted for him in the survey! Like Kim will really give it to him ;)

The Fair is Here!!

Kylan in the tree
Bird Watcher

Civil War Iron- North Carolina

Taken in Charleston, SC

Once again it's time for the Box Elder County Fair. Today is the first day and I went to see if I won anything with my picture entries. I entered 4 photos and 3 took 2nd place in the amateur division!! I was excited, on Friday I get to collect my prize money, what on earth should with it, should I invest it, should I save it, should I pay a bill, or should I buy some fair food!! (Take the survey!!) After all a whole $4.50 will buy a meal there. I entered Kylan's pic I took of him in the tree, it is pretty cool but it didn't win. More on the fair to come ;) On the survey the first question kinda got cut off (invest with Chuck!) our son-in-law who works for Edward Jones...

Allies Adventures

Allie took her first road trip of her young life! We tripped down to Hurricane so she could meet mom, dad and Cricket. She travelled quite well and even though her energy level was a little much for Cricket, they did great together. She wore out Cricket, I'm sure Cricket is glad for a little R&R after we left. We had a great time and wish mom a speedy recovery and we thank dad for the great Turkey dinner.
While there Allie learned to Shake and jump on the fireplace. She is doing great with her basic commands and growing quickly, we even had to loosen her collar.

Kristy's Farwell BBQ

Kristy will be leaving shortly for the south to get her Masters Degree in Family Therapy. We BBQ'd steaks and chicken and made some homemade Ice Cream. Kristy requested something with choc, so I made Crushed Whopper Ice Cream, one of her favs. Of course we had too take some pics! Kristy and Matt met Allie and Gypsy for the first time. It was great to have her here and Matt too! Matt you are always welcome here. Kristy I will miss you being so far away, please don't forget to e-mail and call your mom. You will do great in Grad School, they are lucky to have you there. Matt thanks for helping to drive Kristy there, we hope you both have a safe and wonderful trip. Gods Speed and I love you tons ;)

Marks New Ride

With Mark communting to Ogden everyday, our fuel bill went skyhigh! Since his car was really old and starting to cost us in repairs, we decided it was time to get him a new ride. It's a Ford Focus, 5 speed, kinda cute isn't it! Okay I guess cute isn't quite the word for a mans car ;)

We really didn't want a white car, but it will work fine.
Anyway, he likes it and he finally has a CD player. So when my CD's come up missing I know where to look.

Puppy update: She is doing quite well with the housebreaking, she can sit, come to her name, fetch a ball and loves to follow me around the yard. I actually like doing yardwork again, it was quite boring since losing Pirate. He was always my shadow dog!

Meet the new pup!!

Right before she hissed!

The first meeting!!

Lil Copper Allie - will be her registered name. We will call her Allie. She is 9 weeks and she is a Mini Aussie Shepard. She will get about 13- 15 inches tall and I'm excited to have another pup to train. She has the temperament of our late sweet Dixie and after 2 hours is already responding to her name. Mark and I went to the breeder and saw all the pups, she kept coming up to me, so we took her. She is the keeper. I'll train this one like I did Abby our border collie to catch Frisbee's and balls and of course the tricks I like to train all our dogs to do. Maybe I can use her as a therapy dog to visit the sick kids in the hospital.
She will learn to lay on her blanket instead of the carpet and when go south, Cricket had better not teach her to beg! No bacon ;)
Now is a good time to start a new pup with nice weather and Mark working so many hours.
This breed is fairly new to the area and it was really hard to find one. These dogs have great temperaments, they love kids and other dogs and yet are small enough to make great a great house dog. The cat isn't too sure about her yet, she keeps staring at her. Of course the bed still belongs to the cat, the dog will learn to sleep on her blanket on the floor when she is competely house broke. So far no accidents! :/

Bulls, The Broncs, The Dust - No Mud!

The Hide Race, A Favorite Event

Colorful Sunset behind us

The annual 4th of July Rodeo was the event of the day! We saw friends both in the rodeo and there to watch and of course there was the rodeo food. We did see some fireworks in the valley and didn't get home till after midnight. Mark had to watch Slack, he had an employee he wanted to see rope. How was everyone else's 4th?

Rodeo Junkies
A nice day to watch a Rodeo

FYI: We on a puppy quest!! Since losing our Pirate last fall, it's time to get a pup again. This time we are on a search for a Mini Aussie.... maybe today?? Keep checking back for the pics ;)

First Harvest and the Heat is on.............

These plants were almost destoyed by the Storm
A nice shady place to sit and relax after working in the yard

The Peas are ready to pick

The Cat is Cool Again!!

I have fixed it, we will be cool!!

Today Mark finally got a day off so we could do some needed yard work!! Just what he wanted to do after he has worked really long days getting the new store open. I worked in the front and he worked on the cooler. It stopped working yesterday and of course it had to be on a Sunday. Today he replaced the motor which isn't bad since it is the original one from 11 years ago when we bought the house. So we went ahead replaced some of the other parts too. Now the house is cool again.

Our peas are finally ready to harvest thanks to a cooler spring this year, they did great. We will plant a second crop in the fall. Our other garden plants are doing great. I wasn't sure if these plants in the pic would survive. I planted some from seeds I started in the greenhouse and right after we planted everything, a huge stinkin hailstorm just about destroyed them all . They looked so sad after the storm, the smallest zuchinni had only one little leaf left. It really was pitiful. With a lot of patience they finally made it.

Only 6 weeks till fair time ;)

Lunch Out

I know the kids haven't seen their grandma in awhile, so I took a pic when we went to Olive Garden last Monday. It was a nice summer day and after a great lunch we used a free pass we recently got, to shop at Costco. So with coolers and ice in car, we bought stuff for the freezer and headed home. Vea ate the leftovers that evening while I went to the gym to do some TurboKick and Mark did some yard work! The food was really good and Mark even eats pasta now! But I didn't tell you that ;)

The gift to myself.

Shana said I needed to update my blog, however, we really haven't done anything that exciting lately, so I thought I would share my gift to myself. I always wanted a hobby greenhouse and I got one. In this climate where the spring could be warm one day, snow or rain the next, it's been nice to have. I started lots of flowers and some veggies. I even ran an electrical cord for a radio, it's my own little playhouse! My bike fits in there nicely, which is great since I ride it to work and back. Just my way of gas price rebellion! Plus, a little ride is great for getting into shape even after a turbokick workout at the gym!!

The "One Day' is Here!

Winter Suviours

Apricot Blossoms

My Wonderful Hubby Mowing

The Ice Tree

After a very long cold winter, I always said Spring would arrive one day! So here is the "one day"! I took the pic of the tree with Ice on it 2 weeks ago. I was driving down the road and had to go back to get my camera. Someone left the sprinkler on all night, it looked really awesome.

SSU Road Trippin.....

(Sunny Day Over The Southern Utah Mountains)

We took a few days to trip to SSU! Sunny Southern Utah. We stayed in Hurricane with Kim's Mom and Dad, watched Conference, walked dowtown, visited, ate good cooking and just hung out. They were great. It was fun to get away and feel the sun again.

On the way home we stopped at Cablelas in Lehi and looked around. The Fish Tank is the best. It's a fun store to visit, but expensive to buy anything, so Mark didn't come out with anything but his wife!! The next day it was back to work again and tomorrow it will be 80 and sunny, time to do yard work, get the garden ready for planting and clean the fish pond. If Mark gets is way, we will go ATV riding in the west desert. We can do both if we get up early!!
